Astor, Bear, Ella, and Bruno were all rescues when we took in to our home, and they made their way into our hearts. While each of them did not get to spend their lifetime with us, the few years we had with each of them were amazing and rewarding more than we could have imagined. And now we have Sarge, another German Shepard, rescued from a kill shelter in CA. We couldn’t have asked for a better companion.
All too many dogs find themselves terrified and confused at shelters. They find themselves there for many reasons, from an owner’s death, a move, owners working much longer hours, trouble with small children in the home, or bad financial circumstances. Whatever the reason, these dogs find themselves alone and afraid, wanting for a loving family to call their own.
That is where Emerald City Pet Rescue in Seattle comes in. And what an amazing job they do. Finding the pets (not just dogs – cats, furry friends, and sometimes even horses), caring for them while they are in this tough transition phase, finding them a loving caring and quality family that will care for them, and helping with that transition as well. This is a tough job. It requires true love and care for the animals, dedication, and yes resources and funding.
Founded by Vivian Goldbloom in 2013, Emerald City Pet Rescue exists to rescue abused, neglected and homeless animals. They pull predominantly from high-kill shelters around the country and place them into loving forever homes. Sometimes these animals come from abroad and sometimes from right around the corner. Emerald City Pet Rescue is run by dedicated staff and volunteers who give their time and resources to house, train, rehabilitate, transport and care for these animals.
They pride themselves on providing the best medical care possible for the rescued animals and rehabilitating hard-to-adopt animals to help them increase their chances to find loving homes.
Today, we got an opportunity to go visit them on premise and we were very impressed. First and foremost, they have an amazing team. Great, friendly, and professional staff, who all love dogs and their mission. Second, they have great facilities that are very dog friendly and create a wonderful environment, safe feel, and great for potential adopting families to interact with their potential dogs. Finally, it was clean. Very clean. That says they care for their dogs, their cleanliness and their health.
This team does amazing things and we are very proud to be affiliated with them.
By the way, if you adopt one of their phenomenal dogs, you will get some cool things from us including a first free dog walk and a permanent discount for any follow on services – in addition to some useful swag 🙂
Have fun!
